Also called Warm savory dahl based on red lentils and brown basmati rice braised with ginger, turmeric, cumin and mustard seeds, finished with roasted broccoli, cherry tomatoes and micro vegetables, coconut yoghurt and roasted cashew turmeric nuts.

This dish is better known as Kitchari or Kichadi in India. It is a traditional Ayurvedic one-pot dish that combines rice and mung beans or lentils with many herbs. It is a very easy to digest meal, a very nutritious one and an ideal source of protein that strengthens the body.

In Ayurvedic and yoga retreats people sometimes eat Kitchari daily to detox the body, which is a lot more pleasant to undergo than a juice treatment for example. It is said that eating just this dish for 3 to 5 days will purify the digestive system and cleanse the body of toxins.

It’s a go-to dish in fall and winter, when heart-warming meals are needed.
